James E. Harrington, 86, life-long resident of New Albany, Indiana passed away on Wednesday, November 27, 2013. He was a proud United States Navy veteran that served during WWII. Jim retired from the Naval Ordinance Station in Louisville and enjoyed working on model trains.
He was born on March 26, 1927 in New Albany to the late Edward J. and Charlotte H. (Foust) Harrington. He was also preceded in death by his son, Scott Harrington; step-son, Hans Christiansen; brothers, Steve, Mickey, and Donald "Hank" Harrington, and Lee Dowdle.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of almost 32 years, Janine (Banasiak) Harrington; step-daughters, Linda and Julianna Christiansen; and grandson, Stefan Jensen.
Visitation will be from 1 to 6 PM on Sunday, December 1, 2013 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). His Funeral Service will take place at 11 AM on Monday in the chapel at the funeral home with burial and military honors to follow at Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Floyd County Humane Society (PO Box 1134, New Albany, IN 47151).
