James "Jim" M. Dillon Jr., 74, of Louisville, passed away on Tuesday, April 26, 2022.
Jim was born in Louisville to James Sr. "Mike" and Emily Dillon. He retired from his V.P. of Estimating and Project Manager position at Wagner Electric in 2013 and became an active and vocal constituent in local politics.
Jim was a U.S. Army Veteran, having served in the 173rd Airborne Brigade in the Vietnam War. During his tour, he was awarded two Bronze Stars for valor and meritorious service, the Purple Heart, the Air Medal, the National Defense Ribbon, the Combat Medic's Badge, Paratrooper Jump Wings and two Vietnam Campaign Ribbons. He was honorably discharged in 1968 and remained proud of his service to our country.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, and four of his siblings, Andrew Dillon, Owen "Scotty" Dillon (Linda), Daniel "Danny" Dillon, and Emily Dillon Dyre (Mike). He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Teresa Berry Dillon; children, James Michael Dillon III (John "Neil"), Paul Andrew Dillon and Brooke Dillon Sampson (Stirling "Buddy"); sisters, Mary Dillon Moon (John) and Kathryn Dillon Borg (Kevin); eight nieces and nephews, Brigid Dillon, Thomas and James Moon, William and Emily Dyre, and Michael, Andrew and Christopher Borg; and he was "Big D." to seven grandchildren, Ella and Ava Dillon, and Ainsley, Stirling "Tripp", Oliver, Seth and Jude Sampson.
Visitation Services will be held between 10:00 am to 12:00 pm on Monday, May 2, 2022 at Southeast Christian's Chapel in the Woods (1407 Moser Rd). His funeral service will follow visitation at 12:00 pm at the Chapel with committal services to follow at "The Pavilion," located in Resthaven Memorial Park (4400 Bardstown Rd).
