James Edward Buckman

James Edward "Bucky" Buckman, 82, of Floyds Knobs, Indiana, went to be with his Heavenly Father, peacefully surrounded by his family, on Thursday, January 12, 2023, at Baptist Health Floyd Hospital.
He was born on February 12, 1940, in Nashville, Tennessee, to Fabian and Elizabeth (Johnson) Buckman. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Joseph Buckman.
James enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, turkey shoots, gardening, and taking care of his yard (shooting those pesky moles and groundhogs). He was proud of his 1971 convertible. He also enjoyed playing Euchre, wrestling at Louisville Gardens, hanging out at the gun shop, and watching his grandkids play sports.
He married Mary Frances (Bezy) Buckman, and they had 3 children, Tammy, Kim, and Todd.
He worked at JeffBoat as a welder and then a rigger until he retired.
James is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Mary Frances Buckman; children, Tammy Buckman, Kim (Haynes) Perry, and Todd Buckman; grandchildren, Adrian (Tammie) Buckman, Brooke (Adam) Kash, Brandi (Philip) Bennett, James "Jay" Buckman, and Justin (Ashlyn) Buckman; 4 great-grandchildren; sister, Pat Abel; brother, Kelly (Linda) Buckman; and many other family members and friends.
Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 17, 2023, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). His Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church (3011 Martin Road, Floyds Knobs, Indiana) with burial to follow at St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Cemetery in Floyds Knobs, Indiana.
