James Edward "Jimmy" Allen, 84, of Louisville, Kentucky, was born on November 26, 1935, in Jeffersonville, Indiana, to the union of the late Leonard and Helen (Starks) Allen. On Sunday, November 22, 2020, he departed his earthly life.
At a very young age, Jimmy joined the Wesley United Methodist Church where he attended Sunday School. Jimmy attended Taylor High School in Jeffersonville and joined the U.S. Air Force with some of his close friends. He often talked about his overseas tours, especially his tour in France, and also enjoyed his tour in Alaska. He was a retired machinist from Multi Metals and loved traveling and being with family and friends. In 2019, he enjoyed the first Starks Family Reunion where he was honored as being the oldest family member. He was known for many expressions and sayings, but his favorite was "It's God's Will."
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings, Margaret Scrivner and Leonard Allen, Jr.; and grandchild, Kwam'e Sims.
James is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Charlene (Brown) Allen; children, Gerald Sims, Destiny Owens, Halle Brown, and Jerry Rankins; siblings, Marvin Allen, Sr., Phyllis (Charles) Cameron, Janice (Joe) Stephenson, and Darlene (Andre) Jones; special cousin, Karolyn (Walter) Patton; grandchildren, Camonya Sims, Dont'a Sims, and Mikayla Sims; and great-grandchildren, Jakari Sims and Zoi Sims.
A Private Visitation and Service will take place at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals, & Receptions. Masks must be worn if you have been asked by the family to attend. He will be laid to rest in the Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Jeffersonville, Indiana.
The family requests that contributions in James' memory be made to Hospice of Louisville.
