James Albert Lamping, age 80 passed away Saturday, March 15, 2014. He was married to his loving wife Adele (Del) Kurre, also of Cincinnati, Ohio for 55 years. The youngest of four boys, he was born to the late Stan and Anna Lamping in Cincinnati, where he attended Purcell High School. After leaving the United States Army, he graduated from Xavier University and was formerly employed by US Shoe, Wolverine World Wide and The Blacketer Company. He was a member of St. Edwards Parish and previously served as lector, parish council member and anything else he was asked to do. He was a founding member of the Red Bench Gang which interviewed all potential suitors for the Garden Park neighborhood girls, and he was especially proud that he was never put on toast duty for the annual Mother's Day breakfast. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Stanley and Thomas Lamping.
Jim is survived by his loving wife, Adele (Del); two children, Patricia Britt and James Lamping (T.J.); four grandchildren, Charles (Max) and William Clark, Garrett Escalante and Sarah Lamping; two foster grandchildren; one brother, Richard Lamping; several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and nephews, a host of relatives and friends, and Simon the cat.
Mass of celebration will be 10:30 am Saturday, March 22, 2014 at St. Edward Catholic Church, 9608 Sue Helen Drive, Louisville, KY 40299 with visitation from 9am until time of Mass.
