James A. Uphaus, Sr., age 92 of Louisville, passed away Thursday, October 10, 2013. He was an Army Veteran of WWII, retired from International Harvester with 34 years of service, was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, former member of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church, life member of St. Joseph Orphanage Society, member of Highland Post 201, member of St. John Benevolent Society and the Widows and Widowers Club. He was preceded in death by his wife, Vera S. Uphaus; parents, Henry J. and Anna K. Uphaus; brothers, John, George and twin brother Rev. Herbert L Uphaus.
Mr. Uphaus is survived by his children, James A. Uphaus, Jr. (Carol) and Linda Foushee Gruber; grandchildren, James A. Uphaus, III, Michael Foushee (Jennifer), Stephen Foushee (Jaime) and Tyler Gruber; loving great-grandchildren, Wright and Blythe Foushee; brother, Paul E. Uphaus; and also a host of relatives and friends.
Mass of celebration will be 11 am Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at St. Piux X Catholic Church, 3521 Goldsmith Lane, with burial in Calvary Cemtery. Visitation will be at the church from 10am until time of mass.
Memorials may be made to St. Pius Student Aid Fund or St. Vincent de Paul Society of St. Elizabeth's.
