Jacqueline Elaine Brown

Jacqueline (Jackie) Elaine Brown was born in 1951 on Christmas Day in Louisville, KY. Jackie departed this life on January 10, 2017. She professed a belief in Christ at an early age at Lampton Baptist Church.
Jackie was passionate about education and loved to learn. Jackie graduated from Male High School in 1969. She earned her Bachelor, Master, and Doctorate degrees from the University of Louisville. Jackie also attended the University of Kentucky. Jackie was an adjunct English Professor at Simmons College. Jackie also previously served as adjunct faculty at the University of Louisville, JCC, IUS, Spalding University, and the University of Kentucky.
Jackie loved to read and learn. She owned many books. Jackie loved collecting beautiful pieces of jewelry, art, and antiques. She loved decorating her home with unique pieces of art and antiques. Jackie loved to travel. She served in the Peace Corps in Africa, and was an exchange student in Montpellier France. Jackie loved socializing with family and friends. Jackie found pleasure in a fireworks show, a good movie, a play, listening to music, and a University of Louisville basketball game. Jackie also volunteered at National Public Radio (NPR).
Her mother, Fannie E. Brown, and sisters, Helen Frank and Sandra Davis preceded her in death. She is survived by her nieces Brittany Davis, Yvette Frank, and a host of family and friends. Jackie will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
A gathering will be held from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest Louisville Chapel (10304 Dixie Highway, Louisville, KY 40272). Her Memorial Service will follow the gathering at 1:00 pm at the funeral home.
