Jack Lane Reid a former tight end for the University of Louisville (1958-1962) and beloved husband, father and grandfather, died at home surrounded by family on October 25, 2012. He was 72.
Mr. Reid valiantly fought a battle of prostate cancer and was heroic in his attitude and spirit until the end. He was greatly loved, and he will be greatly missed by his family, friends, church, core group and U. L Breakfast Club.
A manager of Human Resources at G.E. until he retired, Mr. Reid helped negotiate during strikes with Labor Unions during the 1970s. He was owner of Video & More until 1997, and his creative talents will live on in the many C.D.'s he lovingly produced for clients, family and friends. Mr. Reid also had a brief career as a model for Alex Adams.
Mr. Reid cherished and enjoyed his large and affectionate family. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Brenda (Bea) Garrett Reid and his children and their spouses Stephen (Myra) Reid, Shannon (Mavis) Reid and Wende (Gene) Stunkel. He was "Poppy" to his beautiful grandchildren and his legacy lives on in Garrett (Carolyn) Reid, Payton (Bethany) Reid; Jameson, Alexi, Harper and Talia Reid; Olivia, Georgia and Trey Stunkel. Poppy's favorite saying that he quoted often to our Bea Bea was, "We are so blessed". The blessing is ours because they are our grandparents.
Jack was a godly, Christian man and was a member of New Life Church for 25 years. All donations may go the church he loved at 3402 Goose Creek Road, Louisville, KY 40241.
