Jack K. Hammons, passed away on October 12, 2024, just days before his 80th birthday. Born on October 17, 1944, in Louisville, Kentucky, Jack was a man whose spirit and generosity touched the lives of many. A long-time member St. Louis Bertrand Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus, Jack deeply committed to his faith and community. His warmth and loving nature were evident in every interaction, earning him the love and respect of those around him. Jack was a devoted father and grandfather, whose family was his pride and joy. He is survived by his daughter, Megan Humphrey, and her fiancé, Michael. Jack’s legacy will continue through his beloved grandchildren: Bentley, LeighAnna, and Sutton, who brought him immeasurable happiness.
Jack was not only a family man but also an avid sports enthusiast. His passion for football was well-known, with a particular fondness for cheering on the Kentucky Wildcats and the Philadelphia Eagles.
Jack leaves behind not only his immediate family but also many friends that remember him as a generous and loving individual. He was predeceased by his parents and seven siblings.
As we remember Jack K. Hammons, we celebrate a life well-lived, marked by love, generosity, and a strong sense of community. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know him.
Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, October 24, 2024 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). His Funeral Service will be at 11:00 am on Friday, at the funeral home with burial to follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in New Albany.
