Jack G. Hurt, Sr.

Jack G. Hurt Sr., 92, of Louisville, Kentucky passed away on February 15, 2023.
Jack was born on October 30, 1930, Evansville, Indiana to the late Thurlough and Edna (Kemper ) Hurt. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Mary Jane Hurt, Urma Lee Chumley, Eva Lena Thompson,Cecil H. Hurt, Ivan D. Hurt, William F. Hurt, Cleatus R. Hurt and Lowell W. Hurt, along with his granddaughter, Heather G. Hurt and great grandson, Keiryn V. Reed.
Jack proudly served our country for 20 years while enlisted in the U.S. Army. After his military service, he was in car sales management for 7 years and an over the road truck driver for 15 years; traveling over 2 million miles. Once Jack retired from truck driving, he went on to drive a school bus for 9 years.
Jack's interest were, archery, the Masonic Lodge; he is a 32 degree Mason, a Past Master and a 50 year Member. He was a life member of the VFW and a Hadi Funster; Jack went by Smiley the Clown bringing laughter for 15 years. He enjoyed karaoke throughout his years, up until 87 years of age.
Jack is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Sonia Grace Hurt, children, Jack G. Hurt, Jr., Brenda J. Armstrong, Gregory L. Hurt, Roxanna R. Norris, Rebecca F. Reed and Benjamin J. Hurt, 14 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 11:00 am to 6:30 pm Thursday, February 23, 2023 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (10304 Dixie Highway, Louisville). His Funeral Ceremony will be held Thursday at 6:30 pm at the funeral home, there will be a Masonic Service prior to the funeral ceremony. Jack will be laid to rest with military honors at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery (Central) in Radcliff, Kentucky on Friday March 3rd at 1:30 pm.
