Jack H. Baylor, 84, passed away on Wednesday, May 15, 2013. He was a United States Army veteran serving in the Korean War and retired from Ford Motor Company in Louisville. Jack was an avid outdoorsman that enjoyed various activities such as hunting, fishing, gardening, and horseback riding. He was also a huge Indiana Hoosier basketball and New York Yankees baseball fan.
Jack was born on September 4, 1928 in Fredericksburg to the late Harley C. Sr., and Lennie Mae (Dobbs) Baylor. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Louise Zimmerman, Harley "Bud" Baylor, Jr., Woodrow "Newt" Baylor, Hugh "Jim" Baylor, Mildred Ellenbrand, and Mabel Martin.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Myrtle L. (Shawler) Baylor; children, Tammy Ragains (Ron), Thomas R. Shawler, Jr. (Sandy); brother, Sam Baylor (Margaret); grandchildren, Jared Ragains (Deidra), Heather Ivy (Brandon), Ronnie Ragains (Julianna), Jonathan Shawler , Levi Shawler; great-granddaughter and "sweetie pie" Maddelyn Brooke Ivy; and many nieces and nephews.
Cremation was chosen following Jack's wishes. A Memorial Gathering will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2013 from 12 PM to 4 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) with a Memorial Service to follow at 4PM.
Contributions in Jack's memory may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
