J. Douglas Turner (75), attorney, father, grandfather and friend passed away on September 15th after battling cancer for several years. Doug was born in Trigg County, Kentucky to parents Lennis and Edith Turner.
Doug was the proud father of Tiffany (Turner) Etzel who resides in Lincolnshire, Illinois with her husband, Brian, and their children, Emery and Tucker. He also leaves his sister and brother-in-law Ann and Doug Slayton and two nieces, Stacey Elder and Cynthia Northcutt. His later years were shared with his loving friend, Gloria Luber.
Doug spent his lifetime practicing tax and estate law after completing his Masters of Law in Taxation from the University of Miami, Florida, and Juris Doctorate from the University of Louisville. Among his many gifts, he was an accomplished historian with particular interest in the earliest years of our Republic. Once on a tour of West Point Academy, he was asked by the tour guide to weigh in on events. Although he was modest, he recalled the names, places and events that shaped our early American history.
Doug was a proud member of the Thirteener's Fraternity from Western Kentucky University, and he enjoyed decades of friendships with his many 'brothers'. He also served in the United States Navy in Spain.
