Isabel Wiscovitch Lugo, age 104, passed away in peace while surrounded by the love of her family January 3, 2020. Isabel was born March 31, 1915 to Javier Wiscovitch and Alejandrina Pagan of Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico. Isabel was married to Nicolas Lugo (February 15, 1941 - July 22, 1982) and together they raised two daughters, Maria Lugo Wiscovitch of Louisville, Kentucky and Isabel Jarboe [Donald] of Rincón, Puerto Rico. Isabel earned a Bachelor of Arts in Education in 1939 from University of Puerto Rico and taught chemistry and physics for several years before earning a degree in pharmacy from Colegio de Farmaceuticos de Puerto Rico in 1945. She and her husband owned and operated Farmacia Wiscovitch for 35 years in San Juan, Puerto Rico. She was a dedicated professional, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and was the patron matriarch of the family, helping to launch each of them into their future dreams.
Isabel is survived by her siblings; Nancy Wiscovitch Cuebas, Robin Wiscovitch, Waldemar Wiscovitch, and Pedro Ernesto Wiscovitch, two daughters listed above, four grandchildren; Karl Miller [Jennifer], Mark Miller [Christina], Kevin Colón [Amy] and Carol Colón-Turner [Clay]. She also shared her love and support to eleven great-grandchildren; Tristan Miller, Karlie Miller, Lexie Miller, Michael Miller (January 8, 2001 - June 28, 2003), Emma Colón, Claire Colón, Olivia Colón, Hanh Colón, Gabriel Turner, Jude Turner and Sarah Kate Turner.
A private memorial service will be held Saturday, February 8 at Ivy Hill Cemetery in Hardinsburg, KY with interment to follow.
