Isaac "Ike" H. Hardin, 97, passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, October 12, 2010 at Green Valley Care Center in New Albany, Indiana. Ike was a retired, self-employed jack-of-all trades who loved life—especially being a wonderful father and Poppy.
Ike was born on June 6, 1913 in Springfield, Kentucky to the late Johnnie and Bessie (Gordon) Hardin. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Marvin Hardin, Charles Hardin, Albert Hardin, Jim Hardin, Rufus Hardin, and Dennis Hardin; and sisters, Nancy Cope, Alene Mullins, Mary Alsaline Riley.
He is survived by his daughter, Deanna Adam of Clarksville, Indiana; grandchildren, April (Kirk) Hamsley of Georgetown, Indiana, Cheri (Brent) Atchley of Jeffersonville, Indiana; great-grandchildren, Jordan, Nicholas, and Codie Hamsley and Kiley and Keyton Atchley; sister, Lorene Scruggs; sister-in-law, Lou Tobias of Charlestown, Indiana.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 PM Friday, October 15, at Newcomer Funeral Home – Southern Indiana (formerly Generations Funeral Home) at 3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, Indiana 47150. The Funeral Service will be at 11 AM Saturday, October 16 in the Paul F. Kraft, Sr. Memorial Chapel at the funeral home with burial to follow at Scottsburg Cemetery in Scottsburg, Indiana.
The family requests that contributions in Ike's memory be made to the American Diabetes Association.
