Irene Mae Harris

Irene Mae Harris, 93, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Saturday, July 22, 2023. Irene was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother. She was very humble, loving, kind, and gracious. Irene was a true servant of God and a lifetime member of Christian Assembly Church. She served from being a member of the choir to a solo vocalist at the church. She ministered through others by helping anyone in need from running errands to visiting nursing home patients. Irene will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of knowing her.

She was born on December 26, 1929 in Butler County, Kentucky to Cora (Cockerel) Coy. She is preceded in death by her mother, Cora Fisher; father, Henry Fischer; husband, Samuel Harris; and grandson, Steven Horton.

Irene is survived by her loving family, children, Samuel Tom Harris, Juanita Howard, Donna Harris, Rebecca Pitts, Cynthia (Larry) Bickel, Paul Harris, Charlene Phelps; a very special friend of the family, Missy (Bill) Palmer; grandchildren, Janice (Ted) Cory, Jonathan (Marly) Howard, Reba Howard, Jaimie Pitts, Chelsi (Daniel) Lankswert, Joshua Phelps, Mackensie (Matthew) Paxton, Corey (Jessica) Phelps, Joe Bickel, Carolyn (Scott) Sumser, Christina (Corey) Able, Kathleen Fried; great-grandchild, Kenny Sumser, Austin (Cass) Sumser, Kayden Fried, Toneisha Weaver, Antonio Weaver, Haley Phelps, Charley Paxton, Riley Paxton, Molly (Garrett) Zollman, Alexander Howard, Maxwell Howard, Sam Howard, Chance Horton; great-great grandchildren, Houston Zollman, Londyn Zollman, Bexley Sumser; brothers, James Coy, Lester Coy; as well as a host of extended family and friends to cherish her loving memory forever.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, July 26, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Christian Assembly Church, 9020 Stonestreet Road. Her Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, with burial to follow at Mt. Eden Cemetery in Shepherdsville, Kentucky.
