Ina Fay Ashabraner

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Ina Fay Ashabraner, a beloved mother, devoted grandmother, compassionate sister, and loyal friend, who left this world on December 18, 2024, in Louisville, KY. Born on November 6, 1936, in Worthville, KY, Ina was a graduate of Southern High School and spent many cherished years shaping the lives of those around her.

Ina’s remarkable career as a bookkeeper at Axton Candy and Tobacco Company showcased her strong work ethic and attention to detail. But it was outside of work where her true passions flourished. A dedicated member of Crestwood Baptist Church, she was previously involved in the choir, participated in volunteer work, and in earlier years, passionately took part in Vacation Bible School and WMU activities. 

Her greatest pride, however, came from her family. Ina was a nurturing and loving mother to her children: Brenda Wells, Beverly Farrell (Larry), and Bruce Ashabraner (Diana). She took immense joy in watching her family grow, a proud matriarch to her nine grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. Every moment spent with her loved ones was a treasure, woven into the rich tapestry of memories that will forever remain in their hearts.

Ina’s personality radiated warmth, kindness, and joy. She had an extraordinary ability to make those around her feel special and cherished, a testament to her compassionate nature. Her love for Jesus inspired her as she lived out her faith, impacting so many lives along the way. She was more than a friend; she was a confidante, a mentor, and a rock for countless individuals.

Ina is now reunited with her deceased loved ones:her devoted husband, William L Ashabraner Sr., her father, Robert Searcy, her mother, Freda (Craig) Searcy, her brothers, Gary C. Searcy and Gregory W. Searcy, and her son, William L. Ashabraner, Jr.

A visitation will be held in her honor at Crestwood Baptist Church, located at 6400 Sweetbay Dr, Crestwood, KY 40014, on December 26, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Followed by a funeral service at the same location on December 27, 2024, at 11:00 AM, concluding at 12:00 PM.

The essence of Ina Ashabraner will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and devotion that will continue to inspire her family and friends for generations to come. May her spirit rest in peace, knowing she was deeply cherished, and her impact upon this earth will never be forgotten.
