Howard L. Weedman, 77, of Louisville, KY, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 19, 2022. He is now rejoicing in his reunion with his wife and many family members and friends. Howard is pain free and at peace in the Lord's Kingdom.
Howard was born September 3, 1945, in Louisville, KY, to the late Alton Weedman and the late Lena Anderson Weedman. He was one of nine siblings. Howard often reminisced about his youth and the bond within his large and close-knit family. In his later years, he often shared stories of his adventures as a boy. He and his brothers lived in a small house behind the main house. Howard would often share those memories and insisted they be compiled into a book about his youth to be titled "The Little House".
Howard met the love of his life, Barbara Smith in high school. They were married on April 10, 1964 and spent 56 years devoted to each other, creating and building a life together. Their earthly union ended in 2020, when Barbara passed away.
Howard is survived by his son, Ronnie Weedman; daughter, Becky Weedman; grandchildren, Savanna Jeffries, Daniel Livers and Emily Livers. He is also survived by his sisters, Katy Cook, Erma Dodson and Wilma Whitehead.
Howard was a Christian man of faith. He was a saved at an early age at Zion United Baptist Church. Howard came from a Baptist family and taught his own family to live by the word of God.
Howard was a man that lived his life with strong work ethics, honesty and integrity. He retired from Zeon Chemicals after working there for many years in several roles.
Howard was social, passionate and had many hobbies and interests. He and Barbara spent many years in the square dance community where they made many life long friends. Howard loved vintage cars. He loved playing guitar and banjo. He picked up golf later in life and he loved the game. Howard was an animal lover and his love for his dogs was immense.
Howard's smile lit up a room. His personality and sense of humor drew people to him. Howard was truly a wonderful man. He was a child of God. Howard was a loving husband, father, papaw, brother and friend.
Due to unforeseen circumstances at the funeral home Mr. Weedman's visitation has been postponed until Thursday, December 29, 2022, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Southwest Louisville Chapel, from 3pm-8pm and Friday, December 30, 2022, from 9am-1pm with a celebration of Howard's life beginning at 1pm.
Howard will be laid to rest at Bethany Memorial Cemetery, 10915 Dixie Highway, Louisville, KY.
