Herman M. Wright, born on September 23, 1932, in Georgetown, Indiana, had a servant's heart and lived a life that was a testament to faith and love. He went to be with the Lord on November 22, 2024, leaving behind a legacy enriched by his devotion to family, commitment to ministry, and passion for sports.
A proud veteran of the United States Air Force, Herman served his country with honor and dedication. His military experience shaped his character, instilling in him values of discipline and service that he carried throughout his life. However, it was his heart for God and the people around him that defined his true mission. As a faithful follower of Jesus, he spent years preaching and sharing the Gospel. His compassion and understanding ministered to many, as he offered hope and love to those in need.
Herman loved all sports, finding joy in watching games of all kinds. He particularly cherished moments spent fishing, where the serene waters often mirrored the peace he held in his heart. His admiration for the preaching of Jimmy Swaggart resonated with his own desire to inspire and uplift others through faith.
Herman's life was rich with love, particularly in the company of his beloved wife, Sharon Wright. He is also survived by their children, Daphne (Gary) Gray, Angie (Christopher) Newby, and Joseph (Rebecca) Howard. His legacy also extends to his seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Herman's journey was not without sorrow, as he faced the heartache of losing his parents, Ernest Wright and Elsie Foreman Wright, as well as his sons, Darrell Wright and Tommy Howard. He also mourned the loss of siblings, Ernest Wright and Ruth Ann Cundiff, along with a beloved grandson. These losses weighed heavily on him, yet his strength in faith allowed him to persevere, teaching those around him about resilience and grace.
As we celebrate the life of Herman M. Wright, let us remember the laughter he shared, the lives he touched, and the love that he freely gave. His memory will forever serve as a beacon of hope and inspiration for all who knew him.
Cremation was chosen following Herman's wishes and a private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, IN) was entrusted with his care.
