Henry Edsel James, Sr.

September 2, 1932 — June 11, 2017

Henry Edsel "Hank" James, Sr., 84, of Clarksville, Indiana, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 11, 2017. He was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force who served during the Korean War. Hank worked at Standard Gravure for over 30 years until his retirement. He loved to spend time with his family and was a longtime member of Parkwood Southern Baptist Church.

Hank was born on September 2, 1932, in Louisville, Kentucky, to the late Henry and Edna (Baker) James. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters, Jacqueline Lemmon, Joyce Wright, June Garvin, and Henrietta Crump; and brothers, Leroy James and John Greenwell.

He is survived by his wife of over 61 years, Nelva (Hurtado) James; children, Henry James, Jr., Jeanette Babbs (Tony), Tita Norrington, Marie Wells, Karen Ward (Daryl), and Jackie Ledford (Frank); brothers, Tommy James and Barry James; 7 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren.

Memorial Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 14, 2017, at Parkwood Southern Baptist Church (2300 Redwood Place, Clarksville, Indiana). His Memorial Service will follow at 12:00 p.m. at the church. He will be laid to rest at New Albany National Cemetery at a later date. Cremation was chosen following Hank's wishes.
