Helen Christine (Ellis) Werner

Helen Christine (Ellis) Werner, 96, passed away peacefully on November 26, 2023. She was affectionately known as "Nanny" by her family and many friends.

She was born on May 15, 1927 in Adair County, Kentucky to Ernest and Lula (Humphries) Ellis. She moved to Louisville, Kentucky in 1943 and married her husband, Raymond Werner, in 1948. They later moved to Jeffersonville in 1958. She worked at Old Fitzgerald Distillery in Louisville and retired in 1992 after 42 years of employment on the bottling line.

In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond, in 1984 and her sister, Lucille West. Survivors include her daughter, Glenda Werner; son, Tony Werner (Shelly); grandson, T.J. Werner (Hali); granddaughter, Allison Buddemeyer (Adam); great-granddaughters, Reese and Emerson Werner; soon to be great-grandson, Werner; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 30, 2023 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) and on Friday after 9:00 a.m. A celebration of Helen's life will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest privately beside her husband at Cave Hill Cemetery in Louisville.
