Helen Smith

Helen Smith, 87, departed this life on Friday, May 16, 2014. She was born in Mt. Erie, IL to the late Charles W. and Annetta Troyer. As a young bride she came to Louisville in October of 1947. She was a wonderful, loving mother and grandmother.

She was a life-long member and faithful servant of Gospel Kingdom Church. Serving God's people in every way she could, she counted it a privilege to volunteer her time to the church's campground, nursery and elderly members.

Sewing, cross-stitch, embroidery and crocheting were some of her favorite hobbies. As a talented seamstress, she made all 3 of her daughters' wedding gowns. She had the greenest of thumbs and enjoyed gardening. She thoroughly loved her pets and they adored her in return.

She is preceded in death by her husband, John J. Smith, parents and all eleven of her siblings.

She is survived by her children, Kay Cooper, Alvita England, Jakita (Dale) Keehn and John W. (Anita) Smith; grandchildren, Tony (Revonna) Cooper, Wesley Cooper, Amy (Brandon) Wilson, Jessica (Brannon) Kirk, Amanda (Adam) Standiford, Bryan Keehn, Andrew England and Allyson (Eric) Ringer; great-grandchildren, Olivia (Joshua) Edison, Victoria Cooper, Jenya Cooper, Lela Cooper, Chase Cooper, Brock Cooper, Sophia Cooper and Aubree Kirk and numerous loved ones.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 20, 2014, from 2pm-8pm at Gospel Kingdom Church, 4742 Cane Run Road, Louisville, KY and Wednesday, May 21, 2014, from 11am-2pm with service to begin at 2pm.

Interment will follow at the Gospel of the Kingdom Campground Memorial Cemetery.
