Helen L. (Plue) Sturgeon, 74, of New Albany, Indiana passed away on Thursday, January 26, 2012. She was an avid UK basketball fan and a member of Scottsville Christian Church in Floyds Knobs.
Helen was born on August 16, 1937 in Elizabeth, Indiana to the late Arch and Jessie (Knear) Plue. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Donald Sturgeon; siblings, Morris, Arch, Curtis, James Plue, Opal Jones, and Vernia Eisert.
Helen is survived by her loving daughter, Vonda Bartley and her friend, Kimberly King, of Clarksville; sister, Mary Threlkeld (Royce) of Floyds Knobs; sister-in-laws, Sharon Davis and Mildred Plue; brother-in-law, Don Jones; grandchildren, Douglas and Curtis Zollman, Joey, Christina, and Daniel Bartley.
A Memorial Visitation will be from 5 PM to 7 PM on Monday, January 30, 2012 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). Her Memorial Service will take place at 7 PM on Monday at the funeral home with burial to follow at a later date at the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Madison, Indiana.
Contributions in Helen's memory may be made to the American Cancer Society.
