Helen C.(Trindeitmar) Smith

Helen C. (Trindeitmar) Smith, 70, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2011 at Rolling Hills Nursing Home in New Albany. Helen was a long-time active member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in New Albany. She enjoyed her more than 20 years as a member of Beta Sigma Phi. An avid reader, Helen also enjoyed traveling and camping with her family.

Helen was born on December 14, 1940 in Floyds Knobs, Indiana to the late Edward C. and Rose M. (Schulz) Trindeitmar. She was united in marriage to Denny L. Smith on December 30, 1961 and they enjoyed over 26 years together until his passing. Helen took great pride in her role as a devoted wife and mother to her three children.

She is survived by her children, Leanna M. Mayo of New Albany, Mark E. Smith and his wife, LeeAnn, of Sellersburg, and Stephen G. Smith of New Albany; sisters, Mary Ann Cosgrove (Bill) of Louisville, KY, Dorothy Hunt, Catherine Trindeitmar, and Thelma Rudolph (Doug), all of New Albany; grandchildren, Nicholas, Erika, Jacob, and Sam.

Visitation will be 2 PM to 8 PM on Monday, August 8 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, Indiana). Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 AM on Tuesday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church (1752 Scheller Lane, New Albany) with burial to follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in New Albany.
