Helen Corene Ashley

Helen Corene Ashley, 90, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed way on Tuesday, August 13, 2024. Helen was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed spending time working crossword puzzles, watching Hallmark movies and Wheel of Fortune, and ensuring everyone received a birthday card. She had a strong Christian faith and a deep love for the Lord as a member of Atwood Wesleyan Church. Helen will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of knowing her. 

She was born on on October 12, 1933 in Louisville, Kentucky, to the late Richard and Evelyn Skaggs. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Rubin Ashley, Jr.; son, Rubin Ashley, Sr.; grandson, Jeff Ashley; sisters, Janet Carter, Carol Skaggs; brothers, Bob Skaggs and Jerry Skaggs.

Helen is survived by her loving family, son, Barry (Susie) Ashley; daughter-in-law, Janice Ashley;  grandchildren; Richie (Connie) Ashley, Chris Ashley, Brandon (Meghan) Ashley, Brittany Ashley; great-grandchildren, Morgan Ashley, Jared Ashley, Cameron Ashley, Dylan Ashley, Breanna Ashley, Kaydence Ashley, Brooklynn Ashley, Gracie Geary, and Jeremy Geary, Jr.; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends to cherish her loving memory forever.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 22, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Southwest Louisville Chapel, 10304 Dixie Highway. A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, August 23, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with burial to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park in Louisville, Kentucky.
