Heather Jean Busby

September 20, 1979 — October 28, 2012

Heather Jean Busby, age 33 of Louisville, passed away Sunday, October 28, 2012. Heather entered this world in September 1979, nearly three weeks over due. Her stubbornness would come to be known as her trademark quality, showing itself right from the start. Heather was born at a military hospital in Fort Belvoir, Virginia, the beginning of her journey to becoming one of the toughest women we will ever have the privilege of knowing.

Heather was very extroverted, always loud and laughing, and did everything she could not to be restrained by the confines of life, at all costs. She loved practical jokes, funny movies, dressing her pets up in human clothing, and singing in the car at the top of her lungs with all the windows rolled down. She rarely obeyed the rules, and did not place herself into the category of any type of conformity. She was one-hundred percent her own person that could not be changed by anyone or anything. She never said no to a good time, which sometimes worked to her disadvantage but usually ended up with lots of laughter and memories along the way. There is not a single person in this world like Heather Jean. Named after her father's mother, Grandma Jean was a person Heather thought about often- a woman who was strong and big-hearted, just like Heather.

Heather spent the majority of her childhood in Las Vegas, NV. She was a Kentucky girl at heart and returned there, where she would spend the rest of her years of life on earth. Heather adored her friends and she thought of them as her extended family. Heather had many loves in her life, but her most cherished love was her four-year-old son, Bodie. He was the light of her life. During her battle with Lupus, "Bodie Man" could lift her spirits in a way that no one else could.

Heather is survived by her father and step-mother, Bob and Suzanne Busby; mother and step-father, Gayle and Charles McCullough; son, Bodie Gibson and his father Mark Gibson; siblings, Erin Oliver (Mike), Katie Busby, Kristin Busby, Regan Busby, Trista Dunn, Rheanna Rogers (Craig), David McCullough, Daniel Barton, and Samuel Barton; grandmothers, Jo Ann Boyles and Wilma Busby; and a host of extended family.
