Haywood Lee Pulley, age 69 of Louisville, passed away Wednesday, April 14, 2021. He was a kind and charismatic father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He was called Home to be with the Lord on April 14, 2021.
Haywood was born May 1, 1951 in Emporia, Virginia. He was a 1969 graduate of E.W Wyatt High School. He was preceded in death by his Father, Eclevest Pulley; Mother, Eugenia Mills; Son, Craig Garvin; siblings Ernestine, George, Clevest, Willard, Will, Earl, Eddie & Lilly.
Haywood devoted his life to helping other people live their best lives, as evident by his 44-year career with Advanced ENT & Allergy Associates (formerly Commonwealth ENT) as a surgical technologist under Dr. Gordon McMurry. Haywood also worked part-time for Jewish and Baptist hospitals as well.
When he was not working, he enjoyed U of L sports, nice cars, sharp clothes, and beautiful women...all of which he hoped to enjoy on a limited budget. He also loved chess and music, and would sing and play the organ in his spare time.
Haywood loved the Lord and was a devoted member of Keith Hunter & The Witness For Christ Choir. He was most recently a member of Green Castle Baptist Church, where he continued his work for the Lord as a member of the choir.
Haywood is survived by his daughter, Ebony Shumake (Elbert) of Florida; grandchildren Vanquez Adams, Jordan Adams, and Elbert Shumake III; siblings Linda Pulley (William), Mary Robinson, Rosa Smith, William Hill and a host of nieces, nephews, and life-long friends.
Visitation will be 11am to 12pm on Saturday, April 24, 2021 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals and Receptions, East Louisville Chapel, 235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, Kentucky 40243. A celebration of Haywood's life will be at 12pm at the funeral home, followed by burial in Green Meadows Cemetery.
