Harry James Thomas Sr. was born on May 5, 1947, in Hickman, KY, to the late Theordore and Nola Bee Thomas. He was the seventh of seven children. He relocated to Louisville KY, after the death of his parents. Harry accepted Christ at an early age by joining Great Good Hope Baptist Church. He went on to graduate from Central High School in 1965. In 1967 Harry married Sara Elizabeth Cobb into this marriage two children were born, Shenese and Harry James Thomas Jr.
Harry was a veteran of both the United States Air Force and Army where he served as an Aircraft Maintenance Specialist. He received the SAEM ribbon, NDS, and the AFGC Medals while servicing. After his military service, he enrolled at the University of Louisville where he studied Education with hopes of becoming a teacher.
After embarking into a totally different industry the United States Postal Service. He settled in Crestwood KY, married his dear wife Ethel Keith, then he retired after 30 years.
Harry was warm hearted, and he had a great zeal for life. His door was always open for advice, love and support of his family. His generosity extended way beyond his immediate family to relatives' friends, and their friends always forming everlasting meaningful relationships. Those touched by his friendship will forever remember his giving nature, love, and laughter.
Preceding Harry in death was the late Sara Thomas, Theordore Sr. and Nola B. Thomas, Theordore Jr., Mary Wilkins, Margaret Moore, Ila Mae McConnell, and Rosie Thomas.
Harry leaves to mourn wife Ethel Thomas, children Shenese Thomas, Harry James Thomas Jr. (Turquoise), and loving pet Taz Thomas; grandchildren Harry James III. and Haydn Thomas; brothers George and Dave Thomas (Lucille); nieces Deborah Rhodes, Tynese Vinson (Terrence), Me'Shelle Bradford (Paris), and nephew Maurice Lockhart; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and dear friends
