Harold A. Glanz, born March 16, 1927 went home to the Lord Saturday, November 03, 2012 at Mercy Sacred Heart Village. He grew up in Glendale, L.I., NY was a graduate of Regis H.S., New York, NY and St. Peter's College, Jersey City, NJ. He served in the U.S. Army during WW II in the 11th Airborne, was educated as an interpreter and sent to Japan. While there , he became a Paratrooper. He retired from the NYPD as Sergeant, was a member of the NYPD Holy Name Society, and a Charter Member of the Steuben Association, serving in several officer positions. He worked for eight years at Brunswick Hospital, in Amityville, NY. as a Clinical Chemist.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, the former Maureen Young; children, Kevin Glanz of Huson, MT., Kathleen Choy (George) of East Meadow, NY., Brian Glanz (Barbara) of Louisville, KY., Lori Buccino (Charles) of Delanson, NY., Patricia Jessell (Charles) of Amarillo, TX., brother August C. Glanz (Irene) of Allen, TX., ten grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and seventeen nieces and nephews. He is also survived by a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 AM Monday November 12, 2012 at Saint Gabriel Catholic Church, 5505 Bardstown Road. Visitation will be Sunday 2-6 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home 235 Juneau Drive, Louisville,KY. Interment will be Noon Tuesday November 13, 2012 at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central, Radcliff, KY.
