Gregory Allen Mills

Gregory Allen "Greg" Mills, 57, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, February 25, 2023. His life's work as an arborist eventually led him to become the president of Indiana State Arborists. Greg was the owner of Mills Tree Service for 30 years. He was a member of the Tree Board for the cities of New Albany and Salem. Greg was the New Albany City Arborist and member of Tree Stewards. He was heavily involved in 4-H and Future Farmers of America. Greg served his country in the United States Army and National Guard, earned the title of Master Gardener, and was an active member of St. Mary Catholic Church.

He was born on August 5, 1965, in New Albany, Indiana, to Thomas "Martin" and Martha Ann (Buckman) Mills. Along with his parents, Greg is survived by his children, Cassandra Mendlik (Jeremy Gentry), Thess Mills (Ashley Hamilton), and Ian Mills (Mary Jane Hale); siblings, Lisa Mills (Sharon Bussey) and Glen Mills (Nick Coolidge); grandchildren, Kodah Mendlik, Kairi Mendlik, Kloie Belle Mendlik, Alicia Junior, Peighton Mills, Lylah Mills, Scarlet Mills, Andre Gibson, Arenthious Gibson, Isabella Mills, Brooklynn Gentry, and Gabriel Gentry; and dedicated dog dad to Albert and Duke.

Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 2, 2023, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Reception (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) with a rosary and remembrance service taking place at 7:00 p.m., and visitation continuing on Friday after 8:30 a.m. His funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Friday at St. Mary Catholic Church (415 E. 8th Street, New Albany) with burial and military honors to follow at Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery.
