Grace Wetherell

Grace Strait Wetherell, age 83 passed away on Sunday, October 30, 2011 at the Episcopal Church Home. She was born in St. Matthews, KY to the late Floyd E. and Katherine Fenley Strait. She attended the old Jeffersontown High School and Bryant and Stratton Business School. She was a secretary for several life insurance companies before marrying Charles J. Wetherell in 1955. After marriage she traveled with her husband's work in many places in the US, South America and Europe. She was very active in the Southern Baptist Church teaching Sunday school and singing in the choir, from the time she was a teenager until approximately seventy years of age. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Alice Jane Donaldson and Norma Ruth Cushenberry; and son, James Scott Wetherell.

Grace is survived by her loving husband; daughter, Katherine W. Kaufling (Michael); sons, Lester C. Wetherell (Margaret) and Timothy G. Wetherell; sisters, Katherine Mae Francis (Robert) and Emma Lee Johnson;a brother, Floyd E. Strait Jr.; grandchildren, Michael Jansen and Katherine Grace Kaufling. She is also survived by many dearly loved nieces and nephews.

Funeral ceremony will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 3, 2011 at Lakewood Baptist Church, 13803 Shelbyville Road with burial to follow at Jeffersontown Cemetery. Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Wednesday at Newcomer Funeral Home, 235 Juneau Drive in Middletown and 10-11:00 a.m. Thursday at Lakewood Baptist Church. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Lakewood Baptist Church Building Fund.
