Glynis Elaine Washington, a beacon of love and joy, passed away on December 8, 2024, leaving behind an indelible mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Born on October 18, 1962, Glynis possessed a warm and bubbly personality, effortlessly lighting up any room she entered. She never met a stranger, making friends wherever she went and was always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. To all who crossed her path, she truly was everyone's favorite girl.
Glynis had a spirit that was as vibrant and full of life as the sun shining down on a clear Florida day, a place she loved to visit. She thrived in atmospheres filled with family, friends, delicious food, and laughter. Her joy for life was contagious, and those treasured moments spent in her company will be cherished forever.
An accomplished athlete, Glynis showcased her competitive spirit and determination in many ways. She was a Golden Glove winner and earned recognition by placing 2nd in the Tough Man and Tough Woman fight at the Louisville Gardens in 1984. Her talents extended beyond the ring; she was exceptional at playing basketball, pool, darts, bowling, and even rapping. Glynis could swim like a fish, embracing every challenge with enthusiasm and grace.
Above all her accomplishments, Glynis found her greatest joy and pride in her grandchildren, whom she loved beyond words; they were her greatest treasures, "Nanny wants you".
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy and Smitty; brother, RIchard Locke and sister, Deana Locke
Glynis leaves to cherish her memories, her daughters, Tashawanta Locke, Lindsey Locke, Glynis L. Washington and DaMeisha Henderson; grandchildren, Ke'Asia, Markiya, Jason, Jayla, Donsheno, Tremia, Tremai, Justice, Jace, Jurzi; greatgrandchildren, Lorde, Ladie, Da'Moni and one on the way.; life partner, Ron Rodriguez; siblings, Keith Locke, Joseph Locke and Kimberly (Robert) Ray and a host of nieces, nephews and extended loved ones.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during the visitation and funeral service to honor Glynis’s beautiful life. The visitation will be held on December 15, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 6:00 PM at the Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest Louisville, located at 10304 Dixie Hwy, Louisville, KY 40272.
Glynis Elaine Washington will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of all those who were touched by her warmth, generosity, and love. In her words, God loves you and I do too!
