Glenn Combs

May 24, 1935 — February 4, 2024

Glenn Stratton Combs, 88, was born at home in Walkertown, Kentucky to Dora and James Combs on May 24, 1935. After a long battle with congestive heart failure, he passed away on February 4, 2024.

Glenn is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Patricia Stephens Combs, his daughter Lorie Combs Dressman, and son-in-law Douglas Dressman, who became his caretaker until he transitioned to River's Edge Nursing Home. He is also survived by his grandson, Nicolas Dressman, his wife Rachel, and their two children, Olivia, and Beau. Additionally, he is survived by his granddaughter, Lindsey Dressman, Anthony Happel, and their daughter, Brinlee. Glenn had three brothers, Jesse Combs (Judy), William Combs (Kathy) and Donald Combs, who preceded him in death. He is also survived by nieces and nephews Charity Ward, Karen Combs, Kim Combs, Nathan Combs, Sean Combs, and Nicole Combs.

After graduating from Woodward High School, Glenn served in the Army from 1958 to 1960. Following his military service, he began a successful career at Cincinnati Gas & Electric Company as an electrical technician, where he remained until his retirement. Glenn was actively involved in the IBEW union and the LG&E softball league. He was also a dedicated member of St. Luke's Community Church in Cincinnati, Ohio.

In his free time, Glenn had a passion for sports and enjoyed playing softball, football, basketball, and bowling. He was a true sports enthusiast. He was loved by everybody he met. However, his greatest joy came from spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and his great grandchildren. He never missed a game or recital and travelled all over the United States to watch his grandchildren play soccer. The Javanon kids were his grandchildren as well.

He was a great believer in community service. He helped with many charity events. He became a 32-degree Scottish Rite Mason and a Shriner.

The family would like to thank all the employees who took care of Mr. Glenn at Rivers Edge Nursing Home. Friends and family, we thank you for all the prayers over the last year.

For those who wish to make a charitable donation in Glenn's memory, contributions can be made to The Shriners Children's Hospital at 1 Children's Plaza 2 West Dayton, Ohio 45404.
