Gertie Dorothy(Goodson) Oskin

Gertie Dorothy (Goodson) Oskin, 96, a loving mother and grandmother, of Georgetown, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday evening, October 22, 2014. She retired after over 30 years as a cook at both Floyd Central H.S. and Georgetown School. Gertie was the oldest member of Bogard Hollow Church in English, Indiana. She loved working in the yard and tending to her beautiful flowers.

She was born on July 3, 1918 in Crawford County, Indiana to the late Jessie and Della Mae (Satterfield) Goodson. Gertie was also preceded in death by her husband, Louis Oskin; daughter, Janet Stiles; six brothers and one sister.

Gertie is survived by her children, Phyllis Hoffman (Donald), Daune Oskin (Susan), Peggy Smith (Paul), Sammy Oskin (Donna); sister-in-law, Anna Mae Goodson; 9 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 12 PM to 6 PM Sunday, October 26, 2014 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). Her Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM Monday at the funeral home with burial to follow at Wolfe Cemetery in Georgetown, Indiana.
