Gerald Michael Freiberger

Gerald Michael Freiberger, 73, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, June 4, 2022. Michael was a boy scout for many years and became the troop leader for Troop 68 in New Albany. He had a heart for children and investing in to their futures. He loved being outdoors, whether it was camping or taking some time to cut grass. Michael was a member of the American Legion Bonnie Sloan Post 28 in New Albany.

He was born on April 3, 1949, in New Albany, Indiana, to the late Vincent Freiberger and Betty Jean (Thompson) Freiberger. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Larry Proctor and Ronald Freiberger.

Michael is survived by his brother, Eddie (Deborah) Freiberger; sister, Debra (Darrell) Thompson; brother, Steven Freiberger; and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and -nephews.

Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 9, 2022, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). His Funeral Service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home with burial to follow at St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Cemetery in Floyds Knobs.
