Georgia M. Evans, 92, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Wednesday, April 17, 2024. Georgia was the true Matriarch of the family. She was an avid poker fan and loved to play. She always enjoyed music, scratch offs, soap operas, and no matter what all family gatherings were at her house (Eveyone meets at memaws house). Georgia will truly be missed by anyone and everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.
She was born on July 27, 1931 in Louisville, Kentucky to George and Elsie (Whitt) Haddix. She is preceded in death by her Father, George Haddix, Mother, Elsie Haddix, Daughters, Vickie Smothers, Granddaughter, Angela "Candi" Lindsay, Son-In-law, Leo Henning, and Sister, Glenna Jones.
Georgia is survived by her loving family, Children, Regina Marshall, Jennifer Henning, and George "Bill" (Angela) Evans; Grandchildren, Tammy (Dwayne Garner) Barnett, Daniel Marshall, Joseph Marshall, Kenneth (Steven Wimsatt) Golden, Jr., Renee Shires, Rachel (Jim) Mueller, Billy (Brandi) Key, Samantha Evans,Amanda Smith, Tony Evans, Amber (Clifton) Smith, Grad, David Evans, Brian (Tennie) Smothers, and Jenna (Eli) Smothers; 23 Great-Grandchildren; 19 Great-Great-Grandchildren; Brother, Robert (Miiko) Haddix, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends to cherish her memory forever.
Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, April 30, 2024 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel, (10304 Dixie Hwy). Her Funeral Service will be at 12:30 pm on Wednesday, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel with burial to follow at Louisville Memorial Gardens West in Louisville, Kentucky.
The family requests that contributions in Georgia's memory be made to Wounded Warrior Project.
