George A. Yost, 83, of Floyds Knobs, Indiana passed away on Sunday evening, November 7, 2010 at University of Louisville Hospital. He was an Army veteran of the Korean war and a member of the VFW Post 1693 Hobart Beach and the American Legion Post 28 Bonnie Sloan in New Albany. George retired from Colgate Palmolive in Clarksville, Indiana after 38 years of service.
He was born on October 20, 1927 in New Albany, Indiana to the late Adolph J. and Mary J. (Hook) Yost.
George is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary E. (Love) Yost; daughter, Laura L. Emerson and her husband, Jim, of Greenville, Indiana; brothers, Ken Yost of Henryville, Indiana and Alfred Yost of St. Joe, Indiana; grandchildren, Ross A. Emerson and his wife, Gabriella, Ryan J. Emerson and his wife, Lindsi, Jamie L. Potter and her husband, Kenneth, and Jenna R. Emerson; great-grandchildren, Lucas A. Emerson and Kyan J. Emerson.
His visitation will be from 2 PM to 8 PM on Thursday, November 11, 2010 at Newcomer Funeral Home – Southern Indiana Chapel (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, Indiana). The Funeral Service will be 11 AM on Friday, November 12 in the Paul F. Kraft, Sr. Memorial Chapel at the funeral home with entombment to follow at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany.
