Georganna Shouse Mahaffey

Georganna Shouse Mahaffey (age 74) passed away on January 17, 2024 after a long battle with ovarian cancer. She is preceded in death by her parents, George and Demaris Shouse of Danville, KY and a sister, Carol Jo Yancey of Texas, and her beloved husband of 42 years, Charles Kimber Mahaffey, II.

She is survived by her two beautiful daughters, Samantha Len (Jason Hopper) and Kimberly Demaris (Michael Richardson). She leaves behind three precious grandchildren, Barrett and Virginia Hopper and Charlie Richardson. She also leaves behind her two pet companions, Watson and Butterbean, and many other relatives and friends.

Georganna's only goal in life was to be a teacher and she did just that. She taught school for 30 years. First for the Boyle County Board of Education in Danville, KY, then finishing up her career for the Archdiocese of Louisville. She loved teaching and loved every student she ever taught.

Visitation will be from 4:30 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, January 19, 2024 at Newcomer Funeral Home, East Louisville Chapel (235 Juneau Drive). Her memorial service will follow on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at 1:00 PM at St. Mark United Methodist Church (4611 Lowe Rd).

Memorial donations in Georganna's memory may be made to the Kentucky Humane Society, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the American Cancer Society.
