Geneva E. Wilson, age 94, of Floyds Knobs, Indiana, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2025 in New Albany, Indiana. Born on December 6, 1930, in Leitchfield, Kentucky, Geneva dedicated her life to her most cherished role as a homemaker, finding her greatest joy in taking care of her family.
A proud member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Geneva embodied the spirit of community and nurturing. Her devotion extended beyond her immediate family; she fostered friendships within her church and neighborhood, enriching the lives of countless individuals through her warmth and kindness.
Geneva had a deep appreciation for the joys of life, which was evident in her numerous hobbies and interests. She found peace in gardening, creating floral arrangements that brightened her home and brought joy to those around her. Quilting became not only a creative outlet but a way for her to pass down traditions to younger generations. Additionally, she eagerly awaited the strawberry festival in Starlight each year, where she cherished time spent with family and friends.
She is survived by her beloved daughter, Shirley (Rick) Lindsey, and her devoted son, David (Susan) Wilson. Geneva's legacy continues through her grandchildren: Rickey, Shelli, Natalie, Ashley, Dustin, Sterling, Sami, and Spencer, along with her 15 great-grandchildren who brought her immense pride and joy.
Geneva was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth L.B. Wilson, and her son, Joe Wilson, as well as her parents, Henry and Teresa Alvey, and her siblings, all of whom she held dear in her heart.
Visitation will take place at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southern Indiana, located at 3309 Ballard Ln, New Albany, IN, on Monday, April 28, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and again on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM. A Mass honoring her life will follow at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church Cemetery, Floyds Knobs, IN, at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, April 29, 2025. Burial will follow at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery in Floyds Knobs, Indiana.
Geneva E. Wilson will be remembered for her unwavering love for her family, her culinary delights, and her gentle spirit that touched the lives of many. She leaves behind a vibrant legacy of love, faith, and tradition that will continue to inspire all who knew her.
