Gary Donald Wall, 77, of Clarksville, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, November 13, 2024. He was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, having served his country during the Vietnam War. Following active duty, Gary continued to serve in the National Guard, demonstrating a deep commitment to both his nation and community.
Gary enjoyed a distinguished career in law enforcement, dedicating his professional life to protecting and serving as an officer for both the City of Detroit and the Kentucky State Police. After retiring from law enforcement, he transitioned to a role as an accountant and later took on responsibilities as a department manager at Home Depot in New Albany.
An avid lover of the outdoors, Gary looked forward to every opportunity to explore state and national parks. He found joy in hiking and capturing the beauty of nature through photography, creating lasting memories while surrounded by the peace that he found in the great outdoors.
Born on October 29, 1947, Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Doris (Green) Ison, and his sister, Paulette Ferriell. He is survived by his wife, Loraine (Parkins) Wall; children, Beverly List, Christopher Wall (Robyn), and Ashley Sims (John Cleveland); grandchildren, Hailey, Kara, and Darby; as well as his siblings, Angela Bryson, Patricia Cahill (Terry), George Frazier (Pam), Frankie Day (Dale), and John Ison.
The family will hold a visitation from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 21, 2024 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) and on Friday after 10:00 a.m. His funeral service with military honors will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home with cremation to follow according to Gary's wish.
Contributions in his memory may be made to the St. Joseph Indian School or to the National Parks Conservation Association.
