Garland "Dale" Garner, 65, returned to the Lord on February 11, 2024, after a courageous battle with Parkinson's Disease. A lifelong Louisvillian, Dale was born on January 13, 1959, to the late Ed and Alberta Garner.
Dale graduated from Durett High School where he played basketball well enough to earn a scholarship to Indiana University Southeast. After graduating from college, he began a 30-year teaching career. He taught advanced math at Doss High School and Butler High School where he made many lifelong friends.
Dale enjoyed traveling, spending time with family, and dining out. He was an enthusiastic IU and Cincinnati Reds fan. Dale was preceded in death by his father, William Edward Garner, and mother, Alberta (Miracle) Garner; and his step-son, Eric Hampton.
Dale is survived by his loving family, life partner of 30 years, Sandy (Allen) Lamp; and her daughter, Jessica Hampton (Travis Harris); brother, Ed Garner (Karen); niece, Jessica Loar (J.P.); and nephew Joseph Garner. Dale proudly and lovingly performed the role of Papaw to Jessica Hampton's children, Zachary and Cooper. Dale has a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends to cherish his loving memory forever.
