Garland E. Cherry, Jr., 77, of Charlestown, Indiana, passed away on Monday, September 7, 2020. Garland always enjoyed riding horses. He was a member of the Electricians Union IBEW #369, VFW Post 1427 in Charlestown, and the American Legion Post #335 Charlestown. Above all else, Garland loved spending time with his family.
He was born on July 4, 1943, in Louisville, Kentucky, to the late Garland Sr. and Mae (Woods) Cherry. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Jay, Kelly, George Robert, and Doug Cherry and sisters, Annie Mae Anderson and Dorothy Janelle Giltner.
Garland is survived by his loving wife of 16 years, Arnell Cherry; daughter, Cathy (Joe) Snow; son, Chuck Cherry; daughter, Christine Parkhill; son, James (Angela) Watson; son, Jeremy Watson; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and 109 nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 13, 2020, at New Washington Volunteer Fire Department (23511 IN 62, New Washington, IN 47162). Garland will be laid to rest at a later date.
