Garfield Moxley, Jr., 84, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Thursday, February 16, 2023. Garfield was a loving and devoted husband and father to his sons. He graduated from Central High School and went on to work for Louisville Housing Authority until he retired in the mid 90's. Garfield proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. Garfield met his lovely wife, Vicky, in the 80's and they spent 36 years of pure wedded bliss together. He enjoyed going to concerts and was always dressed sharp. Garfield had many names; Mox, Brother, Bruh, and Munchkin to name a few. He never met a stranger and everyone had a story to tell about him. Garfield will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of knowing him.
He was born on September 18, 1938 in Louisville, Kentucky to Garfield and Costella (Obannon) Moxley. He is preceded in death by his mother, Costella Moxley; father, Garfield Moxley, Sr.; son, Durelle Moxley; and his sister, Wilhelmeana Gertin.
Garfield is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Vicky Moxley; Sons, Jeremy (Adrian Sanford) Moxley, Jimmy Smith; sisters, Earlene Wiley, Ora Mae Green, Rhonda Browder; seven grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends to cherish his loving memory forever.
Visitation will be on Saturday, February 25, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel, 10304 Dixie Highway. A Celebration of Life will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel.
