Gail Coons

Gail Coons, 83, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Friday, January 5, 2024. Gail was loyal to her friends and held a special place in her heart for children and animals, especially her dog, Sassie. She loved Elvis music, enjoyed shopping, Sunday services, and working with people at her job.

She was born on March 16, 1940 in Greenville, South Carolina to the late Charles Ernest and Lucile Waldrop Ernest. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Kay Edmond.

Gail is survived by her children, Christie (Charles) Jennings, Scott Coons, and Michele Coons; brother, Danny Ernest; grandchildren, Kendra (John) Austin, Nakita (Brandon) Lambert, Marybeth (Timmy) Guerin, Patrick (Danielle) O'Brien, and Zachary Coons; and great-grandchildren, Wade, Rhiannon, Brennon, Felicity, Rentara, Killian, Toby, and Laney.

A Memorial Gathering will be from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). Her Memorial Service will be at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, at the funeral home. Cremation was chosen following Gail's wishes.
