Gail James Barrom Martin, 72, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on December 4, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Louisville, Kentucky on September 4, 1950 to Curtis and Dorothy Louise James and was raised alongside two sisters.
Gail was a graduate from Butler High School, class of 1968. She went on to achieve her Associates Degree in Court Reporting. She worked as a both caregiver in the healthcare industry and a customer service affiliate with Churchill Downs and the Kentucky State Fairgrounds. She was a very motivated and dedicated person, always seeking to help people. She was a big animal lover, having many four-legged companions who were her everything. She had her third degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do; she was very proud of her many achievements in martial arts. Gail loved to dance, was very outgoing, and was a big UK fan. She was an overwhelmingly loving and supportive mother and grandmother to her family, always putting her family first.
Gail is preceded by her parents, Curtis and Dorothy Louise James; her grandparents, Milford and Regina Cline and Leslie and Nina James, and her infant son, Daryl Hack Jr.; She leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughter, Jane "Janie" Barrom Flaherty; her grandchildren, Brandi Flaherty (Juan Figueroa) and Kayla Flaherty; her great-grandchild, Carson Wayne Figueroa; her loving companion of 18 years, Jose Luis Gomez-Noy; her sisters, Regina (Randal) Broyles and Vanessa (Steve) Snyder; her nieces, Sonja Broyles, Tiffany Broyles (Chris) Yost, and Deanna (Matt) Blake, and her nephew, Clayton Snyder; her grandnieces, Evelyn Yost and Agnes Yost, and her grandnephew, Oscar Yost, as well as other relatives and friends who will all miss her dearly and dedicate their lives to continuing her legacy.
Visitation will be on Thursday, December 8, 2022 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals, and Receptions (235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, KY 40243) from 2:00pm – 5:00pm with a memorial service to begin at 5:00pm.
