Frederick Lee Allen, Sr.

Frederick L. Allen, Sr., 87, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, April 23, 2014. He was a United States Navy veteran that proudly served his country during WWII. Fred retired from IMCO Container in Jeffersonville. He enjoyed spending time outdoors and loved to go fishing.

Fred was born on November 13, 1926 in Crawford County, Indiana to the late Torrence and Elma (Allstott) Allen. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Oral, Howard, Robert, Betty Allen; and grandson, Evan Allen.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Chloe (Babcock) Allen; children, Cora Flispart (Gary), Cindy Baker (Kent), Frederick Allen, Jr. (JoAnna), Carol Hendrich (Randy), James Allen (Martha), Cheri Deaton (Mike); siblings, Eugene Allen, Bill Allen (Georgie), Lola Deich (Leroy), Lila Deich (Coy), Roberta Morgan (Everett), Ermel Allen (Alta), Ronald Allen (Shellia); 8 grandchildren, 4 great-grandsons; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 PM Friday, April 25, 2014 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, IN 47150). His Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday at the funeral home with military honors and burial to follow at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany.
