Frederick L. Doss

Frederick L. Doss, 81, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, October 27, 2022. Fred retired from the United States Navy after 21 years of service. He was a proud member of the VFW. Fred was an avid reader and loved traveling and camping. In his younger years, Fred and Blanche loved clogging and cruising.

He was born on August 10, 1941, in Indianapolis, Indiana. He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Mary (Thorpe) Doss; along with his wife, Blanche Doss; and grandson, Casey Perry.

Fred is survived by his children, Veronica (Doss) Hughes (Mark), Kelli (Doss) Perry (Ken), Melissa A. Gordon, Freddie James Doss, John W. Gordon, and M. Annette (Chris) Beebe; his grandchildren, Megan Edelen (Matt), Jeffrey Hughes (Stephanie), Courtney Perry, Carli Perry, Joshua Gordon, and Madilyn Gordon; his sisters, Mary Lou (Doss) Palmer (Garey), Kay (Day) Williams (Mike), and Rose (Day) Williams; his brothers Jake Day and Dan Day; along with 6 great-grandchildren.

A Memorial Gathering will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 10, 2022, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). He will be laid to rest privately at New Albany National Cemetery. Cremation was chosen following Fred's wishes.
