Freddie Lee "Horse" Powell, 74, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Monday, May 13, 2024. Freddie was raised in the Beecher Terrace neighborhood. He was an avid basketball fan. He enjoyed traveling and flirting with the ladies. Freddie always looked pristine and enjoyed dressing sharp in his "pretty little things". Most importantly, Freddie loved his family and enjoyed making memories with them during the family gatherings. He will be remembered by his one of a kind distinguished voice. Freddie will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of knowing him.
He was born on September 4, 1949 in Valdosta, Georgia to Roosevelt and Essie (Eady) Powell. He is preceded in death by his father, Roosevelt Powell; and mother, Essie Mae Cox.
Freddie is survived by his loving family, daughters, LaTonya Powell, LaKeta Powell; granddaughter, Alyssia Collins; grandson, Adrian Tobin; great-grandson, Mykeil Williams; great-granddaughter, Mykhia Young; siblings, Barbara Jean Martin, Linda Powell, Sharon Spann, Gary (Hobby Jean) Cox; nieces and nephews, Michelle Gore, Eric Martin, Tonya Morris, Levar (Robin) Allen, Ariel Spann; as well as a host of extended family and friends to cherish his loving memory forever.
Visitation will be on Saturday, May 25, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Southwest Louisville Chapel, 10304 Dixie Highway. A celebration of his life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Southwest Louisville Chapel.
