Freda Mae (Lasley) Mascio, passed away at the age of 72 on February 28, 2025, in New Albany, Indiana. Born on October 31, 1952, to Fred and Wan-Eta (Adams) Lasley, Freda was a woman of remarkable warmth and creativity, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many.
Freda retired from a highly respected career as a communications officer (911 Dispatcher) with the New Albany Police Department. She was known for her sense of humor, intelligence, and undeniable artistic talent. She had an extraordinary eye for decorating, transforming her surroundings into spaces that reflected her unique style and personality. Freda adored nature and found joy in nurturing her feathered friends, often feeding birds and squirrels that visited her garden. For Freda, the essence of life was captured in the laughter and love shared with her daughters and grandchildren, who affectionately called her Grammy and were truly the light of her life.
She was the cherished wife of the late Gary Mascio, and her family mourns the loss of her alongside the memories of her sisters, Charlotte Kessler, Janet Stepro, and Marjorie Lasley, all of whom predeceased her.
Freda leaves behind her loving daughters, Cary Mascio-Becker (Jamie) and Lisa Mascio-Thompson (Jason), as well as her treasured grandchildren, Lucas Mascio-Thompson (Cassandra) and Leena Mascio-Thompson. Each of them carried a piece of her spirit and brilliance, and her legacy will continue to shine brightly through their lives.
