Fred William"Buddy" Smith

Fred William "Buddy" Smith, 85, of Greenville, Indiana passed away on Saturday, December 6, 2014. He was a United States Army and Navy veteran. Buddy retired from Old Fitzgerald Distillery in Louisville and was a member of the Order of the Penguin for having crossed the Antarctic Circle on January 12, 1947.

He was born on March 25, 1929 in Louisville to the late Fred G. and Viola M. (Essex) Smith. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita (Frank) Smith; siblings, Louise Ballard, Juanita Ross, Carl Smith; and son in law, Bill Nunn.

Buddy is survived by his daughters, Becky Nunn, Dianna Wilson (Greg); brother, Murrel Smith (Bettina), sister, Monna Hott (Jay); grandsons, Eric Nunn (fiancé, Darian), Nicholas Wilson; and step-grandchildren, Jared Wilson (fiancé, Perla), Chad and Shay Nunn (Heather).

Visitation will be held from 2 PM to 8 PM Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). His Funeral Service will take place at 11 AM Thursday at the funeral home with burial and military honors to follow at Louisville Memorial Gardens West.
