Florence, Franklin Randolph "Frank" was born in Louisville on November 3, 1934. He passed away from this life to his next, peacefully early Sunday morning July 13, 2014.
Frank was preceded in death by his beloved wife and childhood sweetheart of 60 years, Dodie in April of this year. His children, Brent and Teresa Florence, Lisa and Mike Bloom, Sharon Florence, Steve Florence, Ran and Susan Florence, plus seven wonderful grandchildren survive him.
In addition to his devotion to his wife and family, Frank was devoted to public service. He began a career in the St. Matthews Police Department, then transitioned to a life long passion of service in the Fire District of St. Matthews. He became a registered nurse later in life and taught health professions to high school students in Tampa Florida prior to his retirement. Happily, Frank and his wife Dodie retired in June 2011 and returned to the Louisville area to be with family and life long friends.
A memorial service and celebration to honor Frank will be held at his church, St. John Lutheran, 901 Breckenridge Lane in St. Matthews, Sunday August 10 at 2:30 for all family and friends.
The Florence family wish to humbly thank the wonderful, caring professionals of Hosparus of Louisville. Frank was loved and cared for by this wonderful group of professionals in his last days.
Please direct any memorial gifts for Frank to St. John Lutheran Church or Hosparus of Louisville.
